About the Job:
CIDR is seeking a Rural and Agricultural Finance Specialist - Eastern Africa and Indian Ocean. S/he, under the supervision of the regional office director, will provide expertise and technical support to CIDR partners and clients in Eastern Africa and Indian Ocean for the development and implementation of innovative, relevant, and sustainable pro poor rural finance products, with focus on agricultural and value chain financing, and contribute to their documentation and dissemination. The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
·         Implement or supervise market and value chain studies;
·         Support to organization's partners and clients for product development;
·         Back up to and monitoring of organization's partners and clients for the implementation of the products developed;
·         Training of organization's partners and clients’ staff on rural and agricultural finance;
·         Facilitation of and support to partnership schemes between value chains stakeholders;
·         Documentation of products, methodologies, tools developed, and of lessons learnt;
·         Participation in national and international workshops and conferences to present innovative products developed;
·         Contribute to the strategic and business planning for organization's Eastern Africa and Indian Ocean office regarding rural finance.

Qualifications:
·         Master's degree in Economics, Agro-economics or Finance;
·         At least 10 years in design, support to, and/or implementation of rural finance methodologies and products in Africa (preferably in Eastern Africa or Indian Ocean) in a senior management or expert position, including agricultural and value chain finance, with strong background on product development and implementation, for smallholder producers as well as other actors of the value chains like MSMEs;
·         Experience in the agribusiness private sector would be a plus, as well as in the use of new technologies to improve efficiency of rural finance product delivery;
·         Agricultural value chain mapping and analysis skills;
·         Financial product development (in particular in rural/agricultural finance and SME finance);
·         Business planning;
·         Elaboration and implementation of training modules in rural finance;
·         Excellent capacities of negotiations and interpersonal skills;
·         Command of office computer software (Word, Excel, Power Point), and internet (email and web);
·         Excellent writing skills;
·         Fluency in English. Fluency in French will be a plus.
