JPAL Associate and Harvard professor Nava Ashraf, whose work tests insights from behavioral
economics in the context of large-scale field experiments in health, education, agriculture and microfinance, is seeking a Boston-based Field Research Manager.
Activities
This Field Research Manager will work closely with Professor Ashraf on all her projects, and will be involved from the design, start-up phase, and project period of numerous upcoming field experiments, and in significant policy and practitioner outreach.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
A Master's degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, or related fields.
- Flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently as a team player.
- Training in development economics.
- Prior work or volunteer experience in development in developing countries desired.
- Experience living and conducting field research in a developing country is a strong plus.
- Several years of relevant work experience and/or research experience
- Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills.
- Fluency and excellent communication (writing) skills in English
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations
- Knowledge of STATA (strongly preferred), SAS, or other data analysis software
- Familiarity with randomized controlled trials
- Attention to detail and highly organized.
- We are looking for a commitment period of preferably two years for this position
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A Master's degree in economics or equivalent
- Advanced knowledge of STATA and Excel
- Fluency and excellent communication (writing) skills in English
- Flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently as a team player.
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Be at home in an academic environment
- Work well independently
- Training in development economics
- Attention to detail and highly organized.
Preferred
- Experience using Lyx or Scientific Workplace is strongly preferred
- Prior work or volunteer experience in development in developing countries desired.
- Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills
- Familiarity with randomized controlled trials
